CHAPTER ELEVEN
Olivia pulled both pistols and shot insanely fast, firing a storm of silenced bullets at all three of us. Her speed and accuracy with the weapons was unnatural and I couldn't believe she was fully human. We were all hit by the gunfire at close range. My vision blurred as the sting of hot lead striking my chest dropped me to my knees. Neither of my lungs collapsed since the Goblin Silver lining within my robe had shielded me and prevented any bullets from penetrating my flesh. But Skye and Summer were both down, bleeding on the sidewalk and groaning in pain. Dazed and fighting to focus, I held up my hand to snap my fingers and rupture Olivia's heart. Quicker than the blink of an eye, one of her swords swung and cut me. I saw the tips of my right hand's fingers disappear. My left hand rose in a second attempt to burst her beating heart. She cut me again, removing my other fingertips with flawless precision.
"Stupid witch! The next cut will be your head!" yelled Olivia. "Lie down and don't move!" I was really beginning to hate this whore.
Blood was everywhere. Skye and Summer had both stopped moving. My crippled hands were healing but it would take hours to regenerate the skin and bone Olivia had sliced off. I had one last breath to stop her from potentially killing us all. "Death!" My quivering lips managed to speak the dreadful word that she couldn't possibly resist. No ordinary person, unless protected by a rare amulet of Holy Magic or possessed by Satan, could ever prevent my deadliest spell of Black Witchcraft from instantly extinguishing their lifeforce. Iâd been wise enough earlier not to waste Death on Vanessa since sheâd been immune to my magic due to Luciferâs foul spirit inside her. Olivia died as quickly as she'd shot everyone and as swiftly as she'd severed my fingers with her weapons. As her soulless body fell backwards into the street, she collided with a moving truck and was crushed under the weight of its massive tires. Her skull cracked and her face exploded like an overcooked head in an ancient orc's man-roasting oven. Scattered parts of shiny clanging metal revealed a broken Bracelet of Speed that had been secretly attached to her wrist. No wonder she'd moved with the reflexes of a Pureblood vampire. Rot in Hell forever you sneaky goddamned bitch.
"Annis," groaned Summer. "Check on Skye." The blonde elemental witch was still alive but her breathing and voice were erratic. She'd taken several gunshots to her gut and chest. The good news was that Summer could easily heal all of us with her power as long as she didn't pass out or die. She also knew that Skye was in the most danger because of her weakened condition after the resurrection.
"She's unconscious," I said. "We need to get off this sidewalk before the police or more bounty hunters show up. Can you walk?" My eyes burned with anger at the sight of my fingers which were all missing one inch of flesh at the tips.
